Tyke

The Knights Tyke Team had a hard fought battle against the Redskins.  The Knights took the opening kick off and tried to march the ball down field against a tough Redskins “D”.  On the second drive of the game, the Knights pounded the ball into the “red zone”, and were able to capitalize thanks to great blocking from the offensive line and great runs by Patrick Marissa, Dylan Lachance and Carter Poulin, who scored on a QB keeper.  The Redskins returned the favour on their first possession after the Knights TD.  The Knights “D” were able to hold off the 2-point conversion attempt.  The second half saw great movement from both teams, but unfortunately for the Knights, the Redskins were able to put the ball in the end-zone, while the Knights efforts came up just short.  Overall an excellent and very exciting game, that saw a final score of 14-6 in favour of Nepean.

Mosquito

The mosquito Knight’s squad heads to the “C” cup play offs after a weekend loss to the Nepean Redskins.  Changes to the offense allowed quarterback, Jake Hamm, to lead the team to their strongest game of the season.  Scott Taylor led the rushing with over 80 yards and a touch down. Joey McKiernan displayed incredible speed with a 60 yard run into the end zone scoring his 1st TD of the season.  Paul Caissie had a stellar day on the field scoring 2 TD’s.  Logan McKenna kicked 2 converts rushed for 33 years and amassed many yards punting and on kick off.  Evan Yourth had some success playing in the receiver and running back positions.  Defence had strong performances from Liam Mellor who led the tackling with 12 followed by Kyle King with 10 tackles and 2 fumble recoveries.  Robbie Clement nabbed an interception, 8 tackles and took down several Nepean players on their way towards the end zone.  Grant Moser, Grant Murison and Keenan Tanti added to the strength of the defence.

PeeWee

This weekend, the peewee Knights ended their regular season against the Nepean Redskins with a 20-14 loss.  Once again, the Knights gave fans an exciting game.  Although the Redskins led at the half 20-0, the Knights responded in the second half with 14 unanswered points, and almost tied the game in its dying seconds.  Nick Krzaniak passed for 2 touchdowns to John Ladurantaye and Tyler Anderson.  Tyler added more points by running into the endzone for a two-point conversion.

The offensive line did a good job helping the offense get 10 first downs.  John Ladurantaye, Paul Lepage and Bradley Hills combined for 62 rushing yards, 101 receiving yards, 3 tackles, and 23 yards in kick off returns.  Tyler Anderson and Josh Bourbonniere combined for 62 receiving yards. John Allarie also punted for 136 yards.  Nick Krzaniak and Jason Lachance combined for 152 yards passing.

The defense held the Redskins to 6 first downs on the day, with Joey Belanger, Michael Zadra and Mitchell Graham forcing the Redskins’ quarterback to hurry several passes.  Mitchell also had 9 tackles, 66 yards in punt returns and 81 yards in kick offs, including a 12-yard onside kick.  Evan Swire had 7 tackles and an interception.  Sebastian Mordak had 4 tackles and blocked a pass.  Joey Belanger had 3 tackles and a quarterback sack.  Michael Zadra had 2 tackles and 2 sacks.  Carlo Cano, Curtis Wagner and Spencer Cates each had 3 tackles.  Also adding to the team’s tackles were Harrison da Costa, Vincent Galea, Zach Andruchow, Jordan Gorgichuk, Tyler Hutchinson, and Russell Martin.  Nick Porter also blocked a pass.

In a touching moment at the beginning of the game, one special fan was presented with a gift from one player from each of the teams playing that day.  The gift was a combined Kanata Knights/Nepean Redskins jersey.  The special fan was the grandmother of those two players.

The peewee Knights now move into the playoffs, where they will face the North Gloucester Giants.

Bantam

In spite of having only 26 players on the field (10 short of a full team) Knights came back with a strong win in Sundays game against the Redskins. A total of 2 touchdowns were scored by Knights Quaterback Dallon Kuprowski in the first and second quarters of the game each with successful conversion kicks by Konah Raynes. Defence stepped up their level of play with 4 pass interceptions during the game. The Knights also gained control of the ball after 4 fumbles by the Redskins.   The defence shut out the Redksins offence throughout the game, which ended with a score of 14-0 for the Knights. The Knights now stand at 5 wins and 3 losses during the regular season.
