All 4 Kanata Knights Teams were on the road this week. The Tyke, Mosquito and PeeWee teams travelled to North Gloucester for a meeting with the Giants, while the Bantam Team played the Wildcats in Cornwall.
Tyke
A determined Tykes squad looked certain to pick up their fist win of the season as they dominated the Giants early on both sides of the ball and got off to an early 6-0 lead on a touchdown from Carter Poulin. The Giants rebounded however and the Knights were unable to keep pace with a relentless rushing attack as the Giants took the contest by a score of 34-6. Despite the lopsided score, the Knights defence produced another solid, balanced effort with 13 different players contributing tackles. Marco Becerril , Brogan Lavigne , Bryce Marshall and Eithan Hards each came up with key tackles to slow the Giants offence. On offence, Dylan Lachance racked up 44 yards in rushing while Jack Power added 20 yards and Patrick Massia was good for 11 yards of his own.
Mosquito
Both Defensive squads were the key in this game. Each team moved the ball well on Offense, but their opposing defensive foes were not going to fold under the pressure. This game was so tense, 4 quarters of football were not enough to settle the score. In the end, overtime didn’t even help and the game was declared a 0 – 0 draw. An excellent game by both teams.
PeeWee
The PeeWee Knights looked to bring their record back up to .500 against the undefeated Giants. Offensively, the Knights attacked on the ground and in the air to try an overcome a very skilled Giants Defense. Excellent running by the backfield of John Ladurantaye, Bradley Hills and Tyler Anderson accounted for 140 yards rushing. QB’s Jason Lachance and Nick Krzaniak were able to complete an air assault that was highlighted by Josh “Scooter” Borbonnaire’s first TD of the season.
Defensively the Knights had great pressure on the Giants QB all day long and held the Giants to only 5 first downs all game. The Linebacker core of Mitch Graham, Evan Swire and Harry DaCosta accounted for over 20 tackles, while the Defensive Backs kept the Giants Receivers in check. Special Teams proved to be huge in this game. The Punt Returners for the Knights accounted for over 70 yards in returns. In the end, field position played the difference, as the Giants scored on 2 drives that started deep within the Knights end (one off a punt return, the other off a blocked punt). The PeeWee’s showed determination throughout the entire game, and look forward to facing Cumberland this weekend.
Bantam
The Bantam Offense took control of the game from the first snap of the ball. After Touchdowns from Mark Brown and Dallon Kuprowski, and the Knights Defense blocking an attempted field goal, the score was 13-7 at half time for the Knights. The second half started with both teams scoring early, and with Cornwall pressing, the Knights “D” stone-walled them on the 1 yard line. Both Teams kept looking for that edge and pressed back and forth on the field. With 30 seconds left on the clock, as Cornwall was driving the ball, Konah Raynes intercepted a pass, giving the Knights the ball, and a 20-15 vistory to remain undefeated.
The Knights next games are back at our home field, next to the KRC. Bantams and Mosquito play Friday night under the lights, starting at 6:45PM, while the PeeWees and Tykes play Saturday, starting at 9:00am. |
